New Wonderkids of Football Manager 2014?

Jairo Riedewald, Ajax Amsterdam, 1996

Ajax Amsterdam is famous for their youth development. This season, they have two amazing wonderkids in their ranks. Both players can play both as defensive midfielder, left back, right back or as central defender. Riechedly Bazoer is knocking on the doors to the first team already, while Jairo Riedewald will be part of the Ajax Under-17 and Under-19 this season. We have previously written about Richedly Bazoer, so this time we will focus on Jairo Riedewald, another emerging talent.

Jairo Riedewald is a left footed versatile player who enjoyed a great spell last season, both for the Dutch Under-17 national team and Ajax Under-17. Despite his young age, Jairo Riedewald was the youngest player in the starting line up for both squads, and won the Championship, SuperCup and Aegon Future Cup with Ajax Jugend, or Under-17. This season he has been called-up to the Holland Under-19 and will feature in the squad, which will face Germany and Italy later this September.

The Dutch Wonderkid, Jairo Riedewald can be described as a graceful defender, which is his preferred position. He is known for his vision and anticipation and could be described as an intelligent defender. Jairo Riedewald cal also be described as a modern day defender, as he possesses good passing abilities and fairly good ball control. He has also good leadership capablities. The Dutch ball playing defender is also good in the air, which makes him a valuable player both in defensive and attacking set-pieces, as a target inside the box. His dream is to eventually play in England and Premier Leauge!

Thanks to Ajax.nl Journalist Jos Boesveld for providing us with information about Jairo Riedewald.

Richairo Zivkovic, FC Groningen, 1996

Labelled as the new Arjen Robben, Richairo Juliano Živković, is an emerging talent who has already broke the record for youngest ever goalscorer, previously held by Robben. The tall slender forward of Serbian heritage, but born in Netherland Antilles, have been followed by Liverpool since his debut for the first team of FC Groningen, but scouts from all over Europe is keeping track of his development, such as Manchester City and Ajax. He made his debut in December 2012, becoming the fourth youngest player in the Dutch league history. Richairo Zivkovic have recorded 2 goals so far this season, in the two first league caps of the 2013/14 season for Groningen. This only shows how lethal he can be.

FC Groningen’s 16-year-old wonderkid Richairo Zivkovic is a young star who isn’t fully developed yet but has a natural instinct for scoring goals similar to Filippo Inzaghi, Patrick Kluivert or David Trezeguet. This season will be an important year in regard to his development, but already we’ve seen glimpses of his huge potential. Richairo Zivkovic is 186cm tall and is rather technical gifted despite his height. Naturally he is very good in the air, but has also the strength and quickness to get away from his marker. What intrigued me the most is his positioning abilities and being at the right place at the right time. He has scored a number of goals in his youth career by tap ins or headers inside the box. His good technique, finishing and positioning makes him a natural born lethal forward; a focal point for any team in attack. Richairo Zivkovic can also play as a right winger and is described as the future hope for Dutch football. Update 13.09.2013; Richairo Zivkovic has decided to play for national team of Holland, despite being able to choose Curacao or Serbia.

Pedro Chirivella, Liverpool, 1997

Liverpool have strengthen their youth ranks with some good promising talents the past season. While they snapped up a promising youngster from Barcelona’s La Masia academy, Sergi Canos Tenes, I will instead set focus on another Spanish wonderkid; Pedro Chirivella, who transferred to Liverpool last month and signed a 5 year deal with the Reds. Pedro Chirivella started his youth career at Valencia. There he got the description as “the best talent to come through the ranks in years”. This promising talent has several appearances for the Spanish Under-16, and Under 17, where he has captained several times. Barcelona have wanted his services for years, and eventhough his idol, Sergio Busquets plays for the Catalanian club, it was not enough to lure him away from Mestalla. Pedro chose instead Liverpool, where he will get the chance to develop further without much pressure. He has already captained for the Liverpool Under-17 in a minor pre-season youth cup, and can become an integral part of The Reds youth development program because of his exemplary attitude, as it may rub onto the other youngsters.

Pedro Chirivella is a versatile central midfielder that can be compared to both Xabi Alonso, Sergio Busquets and Cesc Fabregas. Pedro can both play as an attacking midfielder or a defensive midfielder, which makes him an excellent prospect for the modern 4-2-3-1. Unlike Sergio Busquets, Pedro Chirivella Burgos likes to get into opposition area, sit deep and dictate tempo. Like “every” wonderkids these days, he is also technical gifted, but what makes him amazing is his wide range of passing, his movement off the ball and creativity, which would make him an excellent playmaker of the future.
Pedro Chirivella might become Liverpool’s new Cesc Fabregas. How high he will be rated in Football Manager 2014 is yet to see, but it’s clear to see that Pedro has great potential in real life.

Youri Tielemans, Anderlecht, 1997

For any team not based in top of the best leagues in Europe, player development have become vital in order to succeed. RSC Anderlecht is widely known for their good youth facilities and have developed David Henen and Dennis Praet to two amazing Belgium Wonderkids. This season a new emerging talent have been trusted with his debut for the “Paars-wit” of Brussel. Youri Tielemans can be described as a 100% Anderlecht product. The two-footed central midfielder have been trusted with 3 consecutive matches in Jupiler Pro League so far this season. The new Belgium wonderkid showed excellent form last season for Belgium Under-16 team, recording a brilliant amount of 8 goals in 10 matches. This season he is part of the Belgium Under-21 squad, a team made up by mostly 3 year older players; Thorgan Hazard, earlier mentioned Dennis Praet and Yannick Ferreira-Carrasco.

Youri Tielemans can be described as a deep-lying playmaker. His abilities to orchistre the team is one of his main strength. He tends to drop deep always looking to receive the ball. He has a good range of passing, both when it comes to crossing the ball from wide, play through balls and retain possession with accurate short passes. Youri Tielemans is also capable to take free-kicks and likes to join the attack by arriving late. He is also good at controlling the ball and move with the ball to get available for a pass or a cross, and has the technique and dribbling capabilities to do so.

How far Youri Tielemans can reach, both in real life and in Football Manager 2014, is yet to see, but his composure, tactical intelligent and vision could make him a star of the football world.

Ezra Walian, Ajax Amsterdam, 1997

When I first saw Ezra Walian he reminded me a lot of a young Zlatan Ibrahimovic or Klaas-Jan Huntelaar. Ezra Walian is an elegant player which is as lethal as the previous mentioned world class players. The young striker is of Indonesian heritage, but is also eligible to play for Holland. Ezra Walian is already making his way into Ajax A1, a team consisting of more famous Football Manager 2013 talents like Richardo Kishna, Melvin Visser and Branco van den Boomen.

The Dutch-Indonesian Wonderkid was called up to Holland Under-16 last season and recorded 2 goals in 3 matches. And it’s his goals, the amount of goals, that can summarize his football career. Since he was 14 years old, Ezra Walian have recorded a tremendous mount of goals. Last season, playing for Ajax B1, the elegant striker recorded 28 goals!

Besides the amount of goals, Ezra Walian is a hard working professional player. He has played against much older players in all of his youth career and eventhough he ain’t physical strong, he has a mental thoughness which makes him able to beat them with his football intelligent, quick movement and technique. He is also fairly quick and likes to run with the ball directly onto his markers beating him with quickness and technique. Ezra Walian have everything that requires to become a world class goalscorer; he is good in the air, good heading abilities, great finisher and is able to position himself at the right place at the right time, in additional to have the drive and hard working personality to blossom into a star player.

It’s clear to see, Ezra Walian is a special talent; as lethal as Zlatan Ibrahimovic and intelligent as Ole Gunnar Solskjær. Of course, he will be one I’m looking forward to scout in Football Manager 2014.

Anton Mitryushkin, Spartak Moscow II, 1996

Some will claim Russia is legend for their development of great goalkeepers; from the “Black Spider” Lev Yashin in the 50’s and 60’s to more recent world class goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev, a former Football Manager Wonderkid. While Igor Akinfeev got his national debut as a young 18 year old, there is a young star who might inherit the throne as the number one goalkeeper of Russia. His name is Anton Mitryushkin, his clubs is Spartak Moscow. Some of you might be familiar with Anton’s performances in the summers UEFA European Under-17 Championship, where he captained and guided the team all the way to the champions of Europe! Not only was he the decisive cause of why Russia won the tournament, but he was also handed the trophy as Golden player of the tournament, a prestigous award formerly handed to Cesc Fabregas in 2004 and Maximilian Meyer in 2012.

The elegant shot stopper proved his worth in the tournament by conceding one goal in 400 minutes of game play! His excellence and reflexes made him the hero by saving three Italian penalties in the final. Russia Under-17 recorded their second title, the last one in 2005/2006.

The Russian Wonderkid, Anton Mitryushkin is definitely one to look out for in the future. His ability to handle pressure made him the hero both in the final and in the semi-final. The 186 cm tall goalkeeper has recorded over 17 matches as captain for Russia Under-17, and is an excellent shot-stopper. In additional to some great reflexes he also possess the ability to dominate in the air and is great on commanding the area. Anton Mitryushkin’s reactions, quick movement and positioning might make him to the best Russian goalkeeper ever!

Share your thoughts on Anton Mitryushkin in the comment field below. Can the Russian Wonderkid Anton Mitryushkin become the best Russian goalkeeper ever and beat Igor Akinfeev, in a two year time, for the spot in the Russian National team?

Josimar Quintero, Chelsea, 1997

After Chelsea chairman Roman Abramovich, stepped back from his active involvement to The Blues’ first team, as a foreground chairman or Sugar daddy, supporting the team with fresh money constantly, Chelsea has taken a new route. Now the club are run with the philosophy of developing their own talents and invest more in buy promising talents from the best academies in the world. One of the latest signings is Josimar Quintero snapped up from Barcelonas youth academy, La Masia.

Josimar Quintero is an Ecuadorian born midfielder, who his versatility and potential can make him an excellent prospect for all playr positions on the right flank. The former Barcelona jewel was one of the best players in Barcelona’s Cadete A last season. At Barcelona he was converted from the striker position to winger, but have played most of the previous season as a wingback. The Ecuadorian wonderkid can also play as central midfielder if needed!

Josimar has many of the skills required to play down the right flank. His work rate and ability to cover the right flank is something that’s very interesting, as there are very few talents that young with his remarkable skills. In additional to being hard working, Josimar has also excellent quickness and the technical abilities to be playing in advanced positions. Josimar is also very good defensively similar to Daniel Alves, as his aggressive marking and positioning provides defensive safety. Josimar possess good dribbling, first touch, off the ball abilities and is known for his direct running. His attacking capabilities is very good as he tends to use his creativity on the flanks, create chances by good passes and crosses from wide, but also is able to finish off attacking movements with fierce shots. Of course, he has the technical abilities, ball control and passing reability as every La Masia talents familiar with the tiki taka playing style.

Josimar Quintero has all the potential to become a world class player in the future. If he ends up as the next Daniel Alves, David Alaba or Simone Pepe is yet to see, but at least remember his name!

Jeremie Boga, Chelsea, 1997

Perhaps I’m rather weak for players with excellent technique. Jeremie Boga is another promising talent born in 1997, who has the little extra to play on the highest level. This French Wonderkid is originally from Marseille, but was picked up by Chelsea when he was only 11 years old. At the age of 15 he soon got the chance to show his remarkable skills by featuring in the Blues’ Under-21 squad for the previous seasons NextGen Series. He soon recorded his first goals and made a display other talents can be jealous about. Jeremie Boga is a young wonderkid who has more appearances for the Under-21 squad than Under-18. He has never played for the Under-16 team, which is rather amazing.

Jeremie Boga is a highly rated attacking midfielder, which should be suited as an advanced playmaker in Football Manager 2014. His playing style is very direct with good movement, both with and without the ball. With the help of his extraordinary pace, acceleration and great dribbling skills he tends to run at his marker, beating him with raw speed. Jeremie Boga has also decent level of agility, flair and creativity. His low point of gravity, physical body strength and vision causes often disorder and chaos in the oppositions defensive line. In additional, Jeremie Boga can also produce goals. His finishing technique and long shots are fairly good. To summarize his skills I will draw comparison to Diego Maradona; a faster, more modern and a better team player who often think two steps ahead in everyhting he does on the pitch.

Jeremie Boga’s level of skills and amount of potential is yet to discover in Football Manager 2014. One thing that’s certain is that Jeremie Boga will be a player you will see more of in the future, either in the youth levels of French National team, or in the first team of Chelsea, where his direct playing style might lead the club to new trophies.

Gideon Zelalem, Arsenal, 1997

Arsenal Playmaker Gedion Zelalem

I can’t recall the last time a player was promoted directly from the youth squad (under-16) to the first team, but this was the case for this highly rated youngster, who can be described as Arsene Wengers new diamond. Gideon Zelalem, who moved to Arsenal before his 16 birthday in January, is on the verge of getting an official Premier League debut this season after excellent performances in Arsenals pre-season tour. The new German wonderkid of Ethiopian decent, started his youth career in USA, before being spotted by Arsenal’s scout.

Photo of Gedion Zelalem is made available under Creative Commons Attribution 2.0 Generic by Kieran Clarke on Flickr

Gideon Zelalem could be described as a technical gifted playmaker with sublime anticipation and vision, rare for such a youngster. The slender wonderkid is also excellent on picking out the right passes at the right time because of a good level of awareness and football intelligent. In the pre-season tour, Gideon Zelalem showed the world his highly rated ball control, composure, pinpointed through balls and mature positioning.

Gideon Zelalem’s playmaker skills might make him inherit the throne of Xavi. But it’s not only the skills and remarkable potential, that makes me sure he will become a future world class player. His personality and determination is something all youngsters reaching for the top should pay notice to and learn from;

“I don’t really listen to any hype or anything like that. I just listen to my parents and people around me who love me. They keep me grounded so it’s fine”

“I have really high expectations for myself so hopefully I might be able to make a few appearances this season. But I’m still very young so I have a lot of work to do. I will keep working hard and stay positive all the time.”

Hachim Mastour, AC Milan, 1998

Described as the new jewel of I Rossoneri or the Maroccon Lionel Messi, Hachim Mastour can become one of the best players in the world. Snatched up by AC Milan’s Vice-President Adriano Galliani last summer from Reggiana, the 15 year old fantasisti, who is touted as one of the best talents in Italy, might get his AC Milans first team debut already this season if getting approval by the Italian Football Federation. Hachim Matsour also scored in his debut for the Italian Under-15 National team earlier in June 2013. Since joining AC Milan, he has been part of AC Milan Primavera, where Filippo Inzaghi is head coach.

Hachim Mastour should have all the skills to become an exceptional trequartista or advanced playmaker in Football Manager 2014. His main strength is his excellent technique and movement both with and without the ball. Similar to Lionel Messi, he has amazed the world with his extreme unpredictablility and vision to both pick out excellent passes or shoot for himself. He is already a Youtube hit as his movement, comfortablitity with the ball, dribbling capabilities and creativity makes him a highly treath, and a wonder to watch as a passionately football fan. Everything he does is done with ease and he is known to dribble his opponents way into the stand similar to Ronaldinho in his golden years.

Hachim Matsour, who is born 15.06.1998, will hopfully be part of the official Football Manager 2014 database. I can say for sure, we will see a lot from this amazing wonderkid in the future, and might become one of the most valuable Italian players in modern day.
